Do you have what it takes to become an Apprenticeship Ambassador?

with No Comments

The Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (YAAN) is a group of current and previous apprentices that are members of a local YAAN within their region. The network has been created to provide more knowledge to young students about the positive outcome of an apprenticeship through a range of different activities and events.

The Buckinghamshire Skills Hub is beginning to grow and expand its YAAN and needs great role models like you to help inspire young students to consider apprenticeships as a positive career move. As an Apprenticeship Ambassador, you will help to promote the growing path of apprenticeships and share your experiences as an apprentice.

The role of a Buckinghamshire Young Apprentice Ambassador is to:

  • Champion apprenticeships with young people, teachers and parents/guardians
  • Visit schools and speak about their own apprenticeship journey
  • Talk about the benefits of apprenticeships and career opportunities
  • Listen to the views of young people and make sure they are represented in local apprenticeship and skills initiatives
  • Support regional and national apprenticeship campaigns on behalf of the Buckinghamshire Skills Hub

#TalentTuesday 2018

Talent Tuesday is a yearly careers event run by the Buckinghamshire Skills Hub where we bring students together with businesses that have vacancies to promote.

This year, we held our Talent Tuesday event at Bucks New Uni in High Wycombe where more than 150 visitors came along, eager to explore potential career paths. At the event we had five young, enthusiastic Ambassadors supporting the event and engaging with students.

Paddy Patterson, Apprenticeships Manager, Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP), said: “The Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Network is a fantastic initiative which helps inform and enthuse young people about apprenticeships, using the first-hand experiences of those on the apprenticeship pathway. It’s such a credible and powerful way of getting key messages across about the benefits of the programme. We are fortunate to have such a rich group of talented apprentices in Buckinghamshire, and we are looking forward to working with them to inspire the next crop!”
