STEMRoller – 9th March, Wycombe Leisure Centre

with No Comments

Are you or someone you know into Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM)?

Come and meet the STEM ladies of Roller Derby at Wycombe Leisure Centre on the Saturday 9th March where Roller Derby and STEM will collide!

Roller Derby is a full contact sport on quad roller skates. Expect apex jumps, whips, pushes, high speed falls, agility and strategy at this fast paced event where you will not only get to watch top class Roller Derby in action but meet and chat with the players too!

Many of our referees, players and non-skating officials (NSOs) have played at a very high level, some representing their country, others officiating at Roller Derby world cups.

You’ll network with Nuclear Physicists, RAF Helicopter Engineers, Software Testers, Construction Company Managers’ and more as you ask them all you need to know about STEM careers… and Roller Derby of course!

This Bucks Skills Hub event as part of National Science Week will enable female students to be awestruck by the athletic ability of at least 30 female STEM ‘roll’ models.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) jobs are of ever increasing importance. STEM roles come in all different shapes and sizes, from people that design self-driving cars to cutting edge medical developments, to the person who prevents your computer from being hacked.

By 2023 there are expected to be 142,000 extra jobs in STEM. It is also expected that all jobs in the near future will have an element of STEM.
