Job TitleCare Assistant
Organisation NameCaremark (Aylesbury & Wycombe)
We are offering a maximum of six young people the chance to carry out one week’s work experience in a home care environment during the October half term 2018 (15th - 19th Oct 2018). You will have one day of basic training, and then will spend four days shadowing an experienced care worker or supervisor to explore what this worthwhile work is like, and find out if this is something that you would like full training in, leading to a rewarding and flexible part time job that could fit around your studies.
This is a great chance to gain training, experience and skills in;
- communication skills and meeting new people
- basic skills in health and social care
- recording and reporting
- team work
- coping with unexpected situations
- managing relationships and reporting to seniors
- managing daily routines, timetables and expectations
At the end of the half-term week you will receive an assessment of your attendance and performance and a certificate confirming the skills you have learnt. You may then be offered the chance to complete full mandatory training in order to work part time supporting vulnerable adults and children in their own homes.
In order to take up this opportunity, you will need to apply with your CV, giving your background to date, and attend an interview at our offices in Whitchurch.
You will also need to provide two employment or character references and we will apply for a DBS check which costs £8. If you decide to continue working part time or full time with us, after you have worked with us for 6 months £8 will be reimbursed to you.
If you do decide to complete the full training and start work with us, you will be paid £8.17 per hour (more on weekends and bank holidays) plus mileage if you are a car driver, contributory pension and holiday pay.
The initial training and work experience will be unpaid, but will provide you with valuable experience, skills and knowledge whatever your future career choice may be.
